DEAR Fellow Alabamian,

As your State Treasurer, I believe that, "The People’s Treasury is the People’s Business."

To that end, I have been a responsible steward of your money. I have applied conservative principles and best business practices to achieve effective results for you, the taxpayer. Because I believe in transparency and accountability, I opened up the office as never before by placing the state's financial information online so that you could see where your money is spent.

During my two terms, we brought honor, integrity, innovation and cost savings to the office. The results are remarkable: we have fewer state employees in Treasury today than I inherited in 2003--- who now perform with greater efficiency. I got rid of state automobiles assigned to the office that we didn’t need; I implemented the competitive bid process which opened greater access and brought fairness to our daily operations. All of this, along with other measures, has saved the great state nearly $5 million dollars... and counting.

I want to help our state accomplish even more.

The national economy is in shambles. Its effects have created higher unemployment and stagnant growth here at home.We have many families hurting now and many others anxious about their futures.

Under these hardships, it will be absolutely necessary that our next governor be prepared and knowledgeable about the state's various budgets. I am the only candidate in this race with the background and experience who can go right to work in a new administration without the need for lengthy orientation and explanations about the budgets.

And, I won't resort to tax increases to solve the problems. Our families are already squeezed. Taxpayers are taxed enough. They want to pay less, not more.

Taxpayers also demand that every dollar sent to Montgomery be spent wisely. You have my word that I will hold the line on spending like I have done in the Treasurer's office. I will wring out waste and inefficiencies.

As a native and life-long resident, I want to lead this state to new heights. To see us excel as never before.

I will recruit high-paying, stable jobs for everybody who wants one.

I will help secure a brighter, more prosperous future for our children by getting them properly educated and trained to compete in the global marketplace.

I will lessen the burden of government on our citizens by keeping it out of areas of our lives where it doesn’t belong.

With proven conservative leadership we can achieve these great things.

I’m asking for your vote on Tuesday, June 1, 2010.

As your next Republican Governor, I will establish priorities, work tirelessly and deliver effective results which will move Alabama forward.
